Wellington illustrator and textile designer Hannah Webster meticulously hand-draws illustrations of Aotearoa's native forests to explore her relationship with the world around her. “I like the complexity of drawing a tree: it’s so different from sketching something solid like a house, where it’s easy to understand the basic structure and design", Hannah said in an Urbis magazine interview. "There’s a distinct beauty in the small details and subtle hues."

Hannah graduated with a Masters in design from Massey University in mid-2015. On her instagram acccount @forestdrawn, Hannah chronicles an ongoing project illustrating Aotearoa's forests. This piece was part of her October 2019 inktober series.
