Designs express histories, ideas and values important in Te Ao Māori (The Māori World). This tāniko pattern by Nichola represents Papatūānuku (Mother Earth) and our whenua (land). It is a section of a larger piece of tāniko.

  • Designed and made in New Zealand

Nichola Te Kiri, of dual Māori and Pākeha heritage, was raised in Kirikiriroa (Hamilton), Aotearoa. Her upbringing within two worlds has helped develop her aesthetic for bold and courageous lines, prints and designs. Nichola believes it's important for her mahi to tell a story. Every item has a journey from inspiration to creation. It is the sharing of this story which makes the taonga come alive.
